Shantia Zakerameli, born 1980 in Esfahan, Iran

The point of departure of his painting is a moment captured by photos. He uses various kinds of photos, from family and everyday-life to landscape, political or journal images as his subject matter. In this relationship his paintings contain various conceptual indications from contemporary life. His practice recently intertwined with the history of optics and seeing which creates new possibilities to reconsider the meaning of style for him. These concepts reflected in his recent exhibition held in Emrooz Gallery Esfahan-Iran, titled as “in/out the name of plane”.

Shantia received his BA in Painting from Esfahan Art University in 2002 and his MA in painting from Frank Mohr Institute Netherlands, in 2020.
